Eve has a good life. She wakes up each day, kisses her husband Nate, and heads off to teach math at the local high school. All is as it should be. Except…
Last year, Caseham High was rocked by a scandal involving a student-teacher affair, with one student, Addie, at its center. But Eve knows there is far more to these ugly rumors than meets the eye.
Addie can’t be trusted. She lies. She hurts people. She destroys lives. At least, that’s what everyone says.
But nobody knows the real Addie. Nobody knows the secrets that could destroy her. And Addie will do anything to keep it quiet…
My Thoughts: Freida McFadden was recommended to me by a coworker and I'm so glad she was. The Teacher is about a student who was accused of having a relationship with her math teacher the previous school year and no one believes that nothing happened. This year, she is struggling with bullying and has lost her best friend. She quickly befriends the very handsome English teacher and soon things start to go awry.
It's so hard to not like the main character, Addie, and the English teacher's wife Eve In some ways they are also very relatable and in others not so much. High school is hard and you can definitely tell this is the case for Addie.
This book eventually took quite a few unexpected dark turns and I'm quickly learning that's what Frieda McFadden books are all about. I really loved the unexpectedness and the constant guessing of what's next.
The story is primarily told from the perspective of Addie, but towards the end it changes perspectives to Eve and Nate.
I quite enjoyed that it was narrated by two wonderful narrators Leslie Howard and Danny Montooth. They did a great job telling the story and bringing the characters to life.
Rating: 5 - this is another must read for all thriller fans out there.
Many thanks to Dreamscape Select and Netgalley for this review copy. This is my honest opinion.
