Taken in the Cold by Roger Stelljes Synopsis: "Make sure you wrap up warm for school, honey. A blizzard is on the way." Ten-year-old Teddy rolls his eyes at his mother. But then he hears a bang... By the time police arrive, Teddy's mother is dead. His open school backpack is strewn across the hallway. And Teddy is nowhere to be found.   When gunshots ring out from an exclusive family home on the edge of Northern Pine Lake,  Agent Tori Hunter  races through the gathering snowstorm to discover that  ten-year-old Teddy Marist has disappeared . His mother and her new boyfriend are dead in the family kitchen, breakfast still cooking on the stove. And racing to track down Teddy's father,  Tori finds he is missing too.   Local police are certain this is a simple case of a jealous ex-husband turned violent over his recent divorce. Santa's Slip Up by Raven Howell

Title: Santa's Slip Up Author: Raven Howell Genre: Children's Format: Kindle No. of Pages: 38 Date of Publication: July 12, 2023 Description:  It's the night of Halloween. Spooks, spiders and skeletons abound, the full moon glows - so who is cheering, "Ho, ho, ho!"? Apparently, Santa Claus has come to town. What starts as a sticky situation is wittingly handled with humor, and surprisingly, there's a new winner at this year's Halloween parade. For fans of Room on the Broom and The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything.  My Thoughts: It's Halloween night and Santa accidentally goes out on Halloween night. This book is supposed to be humorous and is compared to Room on the Broom and The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything, both of which I have read and own. Sadly, even though I am a fan of both of those books just mentioned, I did not find this book to be in the same league as them.  Santa's Slip up has more realistic drawings, un...

You're the Apple of My Pie by Rose Rossner

Image
Title: You're the Apple of My Pie  Author: Rose Rossner Genre: Children's Format: Kindle No. of Pages: 24 Date of Publication: August 1, 2023 Description:  My Thoughts: This book is recommended for ages 0-3 years of age. My son became quickly bored with the book, who is 3 years old. It has a lot of pictures but I wouldn't call this a story book. Each page is an image with the following page being a sweet sentiment with a punt play on the image. The words with the punt are all different colors.  The illustrations are cute but its probably the only thing that I really enjoyed about the book. Rating: 2 out of 5 Many thanks to Sourcebooks Kids and Netgalley for this review copy. This is my honest opinion.
