The No-Fuss Family Cookbook by Ryan Scott

The No-Fuss Family Cookbook

Format: Digital
No. of Pages: 288 pages

Description: Emmy Award–winning celebrity chef (and dad) Ryan Scott knows well that family life is wonderful, but can be a very hectic business—stressing over mealtime shouldn’t add to the madness! This heartfelt collection comes straight from his home kitchen’s regular rotation into yours. Reflecting Ryan’s colorful personality and practical approach, the recipes are kid-friendly and packed with clever hacks and pro tips for getting meals on the table (and cleaning up) quickly. There are no fussy cooking techniques or long ingredient lists; instead, the focus is on family-centered meals for even the busiest of days—irresistible recipes like Turkey Reuben Meatloaf, Broccoli-Cheddar Bow Ties, and Naturally Sweet PB&J Pancakes. Even crowd-pleasing desserts like Everything-But-the-Kitchen-Sink Cookies and Butterscotch Marshmallow Squares remain delightfully simple, for minimal stress and maximum fun.

My Thoughts: I choose this book for a few different reasons. The first reason is because of the title. I have a toddler so the idea of no fuss family meals sounded great to me. The second reason is because I recognized the author.

The cover and pictures inside are night and eye catching. There are photos of Ryan Scott and his family and of some of the food. There are a few pages that give background story for the Scotts.

I reviewed all of the receipts in the book and was quite disappointed when I only found about 1 recipe per a section that I wanted to make. All of the recipes are pretty basic as far as ingredients and equipment needed go. I prefer a cookbook that gives me photos for each recipe as I like to see what the final product looks like. I eat with my eyes first.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars because I liked the graphics, colors, and the ease of navigating the cookbook.

Many thanks to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Netgalley for this review copy. This is my honest opinion.
